Surface Transportation Program - Rural

The Surface Transportation Program - Rural PDF (STP-R) allocates federal funds to complete a variety of improvements to rural highways (primarily county highways).

The objective of the STP-R is to improve federal aid eligible highways outside of urban areas. Projects must meet federal and state requirements. Communities are eligible for funding on roads classified as major collectors or higher.

The calendar year 2010 application process for the 2011-2014 Program Cycle is now complete.

WisDOT will review remaining 2013-2014 funding and will begin accepting applications for the next STP-Rural program cycle (2013-2018) in January 2013. Information on the next cycle will be posted on this Web page throughout calendar year 2012.
